Mother's little helper circa 2009
This is not a mommy blog, but there are some trends that a non-breeder needs to weigh in on. For instance, wine marketed to parents who need to take a break. I repeat alcohol for a mother/father labeled Mommy's Time Out or Dad's Day Off. I am not questioning the need of those burdened with child to take five, but do they need to get their ya-yas out by getting snockered?
I heard about these wines several months ago and spied them recently at a local wine shop. They were on the shelf right next to Cupcake cabernet. We all love cupcakes, but I don't think a child-friendly treat should be used to sell spirits. This trend is really sticking in my craw. I am not a teetotaler (as anyone reading this knows), but alcoholism is on the rise in this country and the stressed out, vulnerable masses don't need any more encouragement. It's right up there with toffee-flavored cigarettes.

On a lighter note: Edible Arrangements has finally opened on Merrimack Street. Get your dipped G'Ma Smith orders in for the holidays. Market Street Market is baking snowball cookies, a buttery, powdery, nutty Armenian treat perfect or the next snow squall.

While I wish Edible Arrangements the very best - anyone can see that this place will be downtown for a shorter time than Bad Dawgs was. Not a lot of downtown clients can afford $75 for an arrangement - and that is an average price.

Well the owner stated the majority of her orders came from Lowell.
This was in the Lowell Sun a few months back. She already owns the one in Westford, so I am guessing she has some clue what she was getting into.
