Coal-fired pizza, a great stocking stuffer

I woke up this morning craving pizza. Must be the 0-below temps. So I thought, it's as good a day as any to roll out this conversational chestnut: What are the best pizza places in the 978? Or how do the pies in the Merrimack Valley stack up?

I visited Angela's Coal-Fired Pizza's website and snagged this shot. I must say the za's look tempting. Thin crust (but not too thin) and ample toppings.

The Tyngsboro outpost has been open for two years now and I still haven't been. I think it's the location. I don't relish eating off major highways, the Danny Web in this case, (downtown Nashua excluded). But something tells me once you experience this pie, there's no going back. I feel a little sheepish promoting a "coal-fired"  business when the talks in Copenhagen are about to wrap up, but the company has alluded to cleaning up coal. Not sure that's possible. Does fossil fuel being used to make pizza bother anyone?

I need a few more recommendations to settle my hash. Where is your favorite za house?

Angela's rocks, and c'mon, Rte 4 counts as a major highway?? I think not. Regardless, you should make an exception and actually ~visit~ Angela's (who is making better use of the building than the previous 2 tenants). But keep in mind, their menu is pizza only.
    My other pizza favs?
    Eating Out: Angela's (replaced Bertucci's)
    Picking Up: Sal's Margherita Pizza
Delivery: BrickHouse 1/2 pepperoni, 1/2 banana peppers

I'm a fan of Maxamilian's 'za in Tyngsboro. Bonus: Cigar room, big TVs and attractive "bad girl" waitstaff and bartenders. It's a pool hall, and the games are expensive, IMHO, but the pizza is very good, even getting the thumbs-up from my brother-in-law who insists New Haven, Conn., has the world's best pizza, FWIW.

    Top two on my list:

    1. Zesty's pizza in Chelmsford. I'm still new to the area, so I don't have a long relationship with any area pizza places, but Zesty's is the best no-frills pizza I've found. New location is also great for dining in.

    2. Kendra & Anthony's Hand-crafted pizza in Wilmington for a slightly more gourmet and tasty style pizza. The dough is amazing! Wish they had more seating, but it's worth the trip for take-out.

I forgot about Kendra & Anthony's. Sarah you are so right. They also have a half baked za to go. Great idea for the holidays!
